Shani is a director and filmmaker with a unique signature technique, graduate of Tel Aviv University Film Department where he teaches today. His graduation film, Disforia, won speciel mention in Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
His most famous work is the Oscar nominee Ajami (2009), created with Scandar Copti and winner of many other awards, including Festivals Cannes Camera D’or Special Mention and the Grand Prise in Jerusalem Film Festival, Montpellier, London and the Best Film in the Israeli academy awards.
Life Sentences, the documentary he had co directed with Nurit Kedar won the Best Documentary Award in 2013 Jerusalem Film Festival.
